Callum rode the rails and convolutions of the local skateboarding course with ease, but his heart wasn’t in it. Something within him was different, and he knew exactly why.
It was because of Will.
Jeez, I can’t stop thinkin’ about him. And I’ve never felt like this before about anyone—and certainly not anyone I haven’t slept with. It’s like, oh my God, it’s like a real relationship. It’s weird and amazin’ at the same time.
Callum’s stomach fluttered, and he smiled to himself at those thoughts. That happiness was short-lived. From the corner of his eye, he saw someone approach.
That someone wasn’t Will, as he’d expected.
It was Geoff Mackenzie—an ex—and a guy who smoked so much weed his come tasted bitter and had such a nasty bleach-like smell Callum had to spit for the first time in his life.
“Hey, what’s up, Spotty?” Geoff called with is trademark stoner drawl, raising his hand nonchalantly. He had let his hair grow since Callum saw him last; it looked unkempt and knotted. The guy had really let himself go, even if he still had that cuteness vibe going for him.
He skateboarded over to Geoff. “Not much, my man. You?”
“Just gettin’ wasted whenever I can.” Geoff grinned knowingly. “Say, I hear you’re no longer suckin’ Steve’s dick? Wanna get together later? I could do with a good blowjob. It’s been real tense lately with my olds on my back about gettin’ a job and shit. It’s blah, blah, blah, all the time at my joint. Real stress heads, they are.”
Callum’s insides churned, and not in a good way. Geoff repulsed him, and he couldn’t think for the life of him why he went out with the guy in the first place. Desperation maybe?
As usual, Geoff had turned out to be another selfish jerk, only wanting to spend time with Callum when he needed sexual relief.
“I’ve got a new guy now. Sorry, dude.”
The boy shrugged. “I’m in for a threesome if you are. Two dudes suckin’ on my pole would be awesome.”
Callum’s insides dropped to his feet. He felt nauseous and shook his head to not only clear it but to make it obvious as to what he was thinking. “I really don’t think so.”
“Pity. Anyway, since you kicked Steve outta your bed, he’s been busy.”
“What’dya mean?”
“The dude’s gone and got himself latched onto that Robert Faith guy. I hear they’re really bangin’ together if you know what I mean.”
Callum knew exactly what Geoff meant. He also knew that Robert Faith was the CEO of one of the biggest skateboarding companies around, and a major influence when it came to sponsorship deals for up and coming talent.
His heart sank with the rest of his insides. “Looks like my chances of being noticed for my deck skills ‘round here aren’t so great anymore, are they?”
“Yeah, Steve’s really been raggin’ on you, big time. Reckons you’re a has-been and all washed up.”
Callum felt depression claw at him like spectres from his past. Steve really was an arsehole in so many ways.
